As ESMT’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Manager, you will support our students and employees in reaching diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) goals and further develop and implement ESMT’s gender equality plan. We are looking for a

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Manager
(part-time – 20 hours/week, to start as soon as possible)

You will have the following general responsibilities in three areas:

Organizational change

  • Evaluate and update ESMT’s regulatory framework on diversity, gender equality, non-discrimination, equal opportunities, and inclusion
  • Promote a diversity- and gender-sensitive organizational culture by supervising the implementation of the Gender Equality Plan for the School and promoting the integration of DEI aspects into teaching and research
  • Identify, set, organize and/or run relevant training sessions and workshops for students and employees
  • Partner not only with the group of internal conflict mediators and our Ombudsperson but also with the student-led Inclusive Leadership Roundtable, organize and coordinate meetings and activities, and further their mandate
  • Advise and support the management committee, HR, legal, and other internal stakeholders
  • Stay up to date on relevant legislation (e.g. Berlin Higher Education Act) and report breeches of compliance with city, federal, and EU anti-discrimination and human rights laws or with the ESMT Code of Conduct Regulation on Conducts of Dis-crimination, Harassment, and Conflicts
  • Implement reporting and controlling tools
  • Support audit and accreditation processes when ask for input in terms of DEI

Events and communications

  • Collaborate with marketing and corporate communications teams to ensure that ESMT’s internal and external communications and marketing materials reflect our commitment to DEI
  • Network and exchange best practices with the DEI managers of other international universities
  • Organize DEI events, including Girls’ Day and Diversity Day

Support for individuals

  • Support, advise, and advocate for students and employees suffering discrimination
  • Offer support for employees and students regarding reconciling family and work
  • Support the development of systems for reporting incidents of discrimination

You are qualified for this position, because you

  • Have at least 2-3 years of working experience leading DEI initiatives or an gender equality role, preferably in an international organization
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. sociology/gender studies/psychology/ethnic studies/higher education/human resource management etc.)
  • Have solid knowledge and experience of DEI in the German and European higher education context
  • Are a fluent and confident English speaker with a working knowledge of German
  • Are well-organized, able to multi-task, and have a strong service orientation
  • Enjoy working in an international environment
  • Have previous experience in conducting research, and holding a workshop and mediation on DEI topics are a plus.
