Student Assistant Student Community Coordination

The Student Services Office is responsible for various aspects of student life throughout their journey at ESMT. This includes on-boarding and relocation support, student-wellbeing, student housing, fostering community building, and providing support for student clubs and initiatives.

To support our Student Services Office team, we are looking for a

Student Assistant

(m/f/x, up to 15h/week, to start March 1, 2025)

Your responsibilities

As an important member of our team, your role is both diverse and dynamic, focused on enhancing the overall student experience. You will be working closely with the senior student services managers and other departments.  Your responsibilities encompass a range of key areas: 

1.    Social Events and Extracurricular Activities 

  • Strategize, plan and deliver activities and events that foster a strong sense of community and encourage cross-program networking, enhancing the overall student experience at ESMT 
  • Conduct surveys to evaluate the effectiveness of events, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with student needs and preferences
  • Create an effective framework for ongoing community-building efforts, with a focus on integrating part-time and remote students into the ESMT community
  • Strengthen the visibility of student extracurricular activities, both internally and externally, with a focus on highlighting the achievements of student clubs and initiatives and student participation in conferences
  • Propose approaches to support and enhance student well-being 

Specific events planned for the year: Sports Day and overall summer get-togethers, International Culture Day, Glühwein get-together, and any other events that you plan to organize.

2.    Student Club Activity Coordination (supporting student-initiated club events) 

  • Review and refine guidelines, policies, and practices related to student clubs with the goal of streamlining processes
  • Collaborate with the club leaders to collect feedback and assist in planning student club activities
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating bi-monthly meetings with student club and initiative leaders

3.    Assist with Ongoing Student Services Projects 

  • Take proactive measures to optimize and foster increased engagement on the ESMT Community platform, transforming it into a more effective communication hub
  • Play a pivotal role in the campus redesign project by collaborating with students, ESMT staff and leadership to elevate the functionality of the new student lounge in the learning center. 

You are qualified for this position, because you

  • are enrolled at ESMT and will remain enrolled in that full-time for at least the next 12 months, 
  • have a German bank account (or at least have an EU bank account), 
  • have a work permit and primary residence in Germany, 
…and have the following qualities: 
  • ability to be innovative and creative perspectives,  
  • strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse individuals, 
  • open-minded and inclusive mindset, embracing diversity and new concepts,  
  • affinity for social events, 
  • strong organizational competencies to ensure efficient planning and execution of tasks, 
  • strong detail- and customer-orientation, 
  • reliability and ability to work independently,  
  • willingness to attend social events outside regular working hours, 
  • fluency in English and basic German skills is an advantage, 
  • design and social media competencies skills, and ability to produce promotional materials are advantageous.

Note that the job may involve occasional physical presence at ESMT outside of normal working hours.

  • flexible working schedule – 15h, subject to agreement with the Student Services Team,
