DEEP – Institute for Deep Tech Innovation is ESMT’s innovation hub dedicated to amplifying our ecosystem’s ability to generate and scale science-based businesses. We empower scientists to commercialize technologies, support deep tech startups to scale internationally, and connect research organizations with the startup and innovation ecosystem effectively. DEEP runs dedicated programs in Healthcare, Natural Capital, Compute and Cyber Security - fields where building strong, resilient founding teams is critical to success.

For our Company Building program “DEEP Pioneers” and to expand our venture-building activities, we are looking for a

Manager “Venture Building”

(m/f/x, full-time, 40h/week)
1-year limited position, with extension option - start as soon as possible)

with a strong background in venture & company building, spin-offs and startup incubation.

As Manager Venture Building you will:

Shape and lead DEEP’s venture-building strategy, including scouting high-potential research-based spin-offs and experienced entrepreneurs
Identify and support the commercialization of cutting-edge research by working closely with universities, research institutions, and deep tech startups
Design and implement structured programs and initiatives to systematically support scientists, entrepreneurs, and spin-off projects on their path to market
Act as a key point of contact for deep tech entrepreneurs
Work hands-on with startups, supporting them from idea to investment readiness

Your profile:

Proven track record in venture building, startup incubation, tech transfer, or deep tech commercialization
Strong understanding of the European tech transfer and innovation landscape, including research spin-offs, venture funding, and startup ecosystems
Ability to work at the intersection of science, business, and investment, translating research into viable business opportunities
Deep network within the startup and innovation ecosystem, including founders, investors, accelerators, and research institutions
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to drive structured, high-impact programs
Fluent in English (German is a plus)
