
(Senior) Learning Designer/Instructional Technologist (m/f/x)

ESMT’s Learning Innovation Lab provides support to ESMT’s programs for online and technology-enhanced learning, explores entrepreneurial projects and participates in thought leadership on learning innovation internally and externally.
To further strengthen our team, we are looking for a
(Senior) Learning Designer/Instructional Technologist
(m/f/x, full-time - 40 h/week, to start in December 2023)
You will
- Design high-quality online and technology-enhanced learning experiences in collaboration with subject matter experts and media designers
- Outline, storyboard and build digital learning experiences in the school’s virtual learning environment (VLE) using instructional graphics, web content and media as appropriate
- Identify innovative pedagogy and technology solutions during module development, helping determine which technology tool is most appropriate for learner and instructor needs
- In collaboration with the Learning Innovation Lab Leads, prepare one-on-one instructor consultations, workshops, training sessions, manuals, and guidelines on educational technologies
- Consult on and support effective and impactful delivery of online and technology enhanced learning
- Briefing and supporting of academic staff on the delivery of online modules
- Evaluate, redevelop and repurpose online and blended learning materials
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to educational technologies used in online and blended learning experiences for faculty, staff, and students
- Complete user testing to ensure educational technologies work as expected
- Liaise with internal and external providers to enhance use of educational technology including researching, testing, implementing, training and maintaining instructional technology systems and tools
As a Learning Designer/Instructional Technologist, you will play an active role in university groups and committees focused on technology-enhanced teaching and learning. You will also stay informed of the latest advancements in learning technologies in higher education and beyond in order to continuously improve and provide exceptional support for digital learning experiences.
You are qualified for this position, because you have
- Expertise in online and blended learning design for higher education (at least 3 – 4 years), with the ability to provide instructional design services to internal and external subject matter experts and partners/clients
- In-depth knowledge of current trends and best practices in the use of educational technologies for instruction
- Experience with sourcing, evaluating, implemeting and training stakeholders on new educational technologies
- Ability to review and evaluate learning modules for effectiveness
- Intellectual curiosity to explore a range of management and business-related subjects
- Ability to manage multiple projects and drive them to completion
- Ability to take initiative, influence others, and lead peers and external partners
- Collegial attitude to collaborating and sharing knowledge, challenges, and ideas for improvements related to learning experiences and design practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Native-level or equivalent English (C1/C2) , and German language proficiency is desirable
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
- Creative design skills and proficiency in tools such as Adobe Suite or similar
- Experience with programming (Javascript/Python) and web development tools is desirable
