The Digital Society Institute (DSI) at the European School of Management and Technology is an interdisciplinary research and policy institute founded in 2016 with a mission to advance technology, economy and society through research that places security and privacy at the center. DSI leads several governments funded research projects on secure digital identities, IT law and critical infrastructure protection and is host to the annual C3 Cybercrime Conference.

DSI is looking for a

Research Associate on Digital Markets
(m/w/x, part-time, to start as soon as possible until October 2023)

The DSI is expanding its efforts to provide high quality applied research for the public and private sectors. With our longstanding public sector research projects on secure identities and IT law, the DSI is widening its scope to provide private companies with the skills and expertise needed to strengthen interoperability and trust on digital markets. The transition to cloud computing has not always been easy with companies across the world being slower on the uptake as expected. There are many market dynamics involved in the cloud uptake in Europe, including cybersecurity and sustainability. We are looking for a candidate with an interest in examining these issues.

Key responsibilities

  • Contributing to a study on European digital and cloud market
  • Conducting high-level qualitative interviews
  • Creating a typology and mapping of the related European markets
  • Serving as focal point for external stakeholders on the study
  • Contributing towards the development of the DSI as a knowledge hub on digital, cyber and technology expertise

The successful candidate should meet the following criteria

  • Proven experience evaluating and visualizing market trends using quantitative and qualitative methodology
  • Excellent academic record
  • Master’s degree (or expected MA degree) on Economics, Political Science, Law, Information Sciences or similar subject
  • Demonstrated organizational and communication skills
  • Experience and ability to write in clear and concise English and German. Other language skills are welcome
