To support our Institute for Deep Tech Innovation we are looking for a

Research Associate
(m/f/x, full-time / part-time, 1-year contract to start as soon as possible)

DEEP - Institute for Deep Tech Innovation - is the newest addition to ESMT's institute landscape. Started in September 2022, it focuses on the deep tech value chain and intends to overhaul it through educating & enabling all actors involved. The goal: change the way deep tech is coming to life, so rebuilding the entire path from basic research to a thriving venture, a global champion even, by sustainably instilling entrepreneurial thinking & action in the scientific sphere and beyond. DEEP’s operations have started with a focus on the life sciences and runs activities such as the Creative Destruction Lab Berlin (CDL), the Life Science Entrepreneurship Academy (LISEAD) and the pioneers program (company building).

You will

Developing an index that tracks the drivers and progress of deep-tech innovation in Germany and Europe
Applying qualitative and quantitative research methods, such as surveys, statistics, and working with datasets, to support research initiatives
Conducting in-depth analysis and interpreting data to generate meaningful insights
Producing research-based reports to inform the public and regulators on the development of deep-tech innovation
Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to gather information and ensure the accuracy and relevance of research findings
Presenting research findings and recommendations to relevant audiences
Contributing to the overall mission of ESMT Berlin and promoting cross-team collaboration

You are qualified for this position, because you have

A master's degree in business analytics or a related field
A strong background in conducting research, with experience in quantitative research methods
Proficiency in working with datasets, conducting statistical analysis, and interpreting research findings
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and German
A demonstrated ability to work independently
Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
A strong interest in new technologies and entrepreneurship
