ERC funded Postdoctoral Researcher in Industrial Organization and Digital Platforms

You will be working on a project with Prof. Oezlem Bedre-Defolie, and interact closely with other faculty members at ESMT.

This is a 3-year full-time postdoctoral research position (m/f/x) funded by the European Research Council Starting Grant in the topics of Digital Platforms: Pricing, Variety, and Quality Provision. The position is located at ESMT Berlin. The start date can be anytime from September 1st, 2021 (flexible) and the position could be extended up to 4 years.

Some background on key research topics and expectations

The Postdoc is expected to work within the topics of the ERC Starting grant for the purpose of achieving the project’s main goals. These are mainly investigating the implications of digital platforms’ business practices on variety and quality provision to buyers; on small rivals, and on potential platform entry. The grant allows you to also work on topics that are closely related to these while aiming to achieve the key objectives. The Postdoc would work in close collaboration with the grant holder, Prof. Özlem Bedre Defolie.

You are qualified because you

  • have a PhD degree in economics.
  • have a strong background and interest in microeconomic theory and theoretical industrial organization.
  • are interested in investigating complexities and puzzling questions of digital platforms.
  • are fluent in English
