Director, Business Development

For our newly formed programs department, we are looking for a Director, Business Development (full-time).

The Director Business Development leads the business development and sales function for all programs (both degree and executive education) with a focus on developing B2B business. Given the importance of establishing and maintaining exceptional new and existing client relations to ESMT, the post holder will take an active role in structuring and managing a key account strategy, coordinating a system of key account managers from across the programs team.

The post holder works closely with the program owners (Cluster Directors) for early career programs (e.g. MIM), career accelerator programs (e.g. MBA), leadership development programs (e.g. open enrollment programs for executives) and corporate programs (customized solutions for corporations) and has responsibility for all aspects of B2B sales and communications for degree and non-degree offerings.

You will

  • Configure individual program sales plans, adapting the approach from early careers degree through to custom executive education according to target customers. You will measure the performance of all activities and campaigns, assess them against goals, and adjust tactics when necessary - providing ongoing reporting, developing actionable insights, testing and learning.
  • Develop and manage a robust key account management and customer engagement strategy across all B2B clients and targets.
  • Co-develop new program ideas for each market segment, determining appropriate positioning according to specific enrollment targets together with the Dean of Programs and the directors of the program clusters.
  • Provide guidance on and support for communications with alumni and corporate partners.
  • Use the school’s Salesforce CRM system and ensure appropriate usage across all departments.
  • Coordinate with the school’s marketing and student recruitment departments to develop and implement a marketing and recruitment strategy that is consistent with a top-tier international business school.

You are qualified for this position, because you

  • Can market and sell a portfolio of educational programs across the entire life cycle of  learners
  • Build and develop a key account management strategy in B2B service sales, including implementing appropriate customer segmentation techniques
  • Have hands on experience with major CRM systems, such as Salesforce
  • Display empathic people development and team work skills and have experience in a leadership role
  • Understand digital content marketing strategies to reach new audiences for the service industry, preferably higher education/ leadership development
