PhD Position - Industrial Organization and Digital Platforms (ERC funded)

This is a 1-year (part-time: 50%) PhD position funded by the European Research Council Starting Grant in the topics of Digital Platforms: Pricing, Variety, and Quality Provision. The position is located at ESMT Berlin. The start date can be anytime (flexible) and the position could be extended up to 3 years (if both parties agree).

As part-time PhD student
you are expected to work within the topics of the ERC starting grant for the purpose of achieving the project’s main goals:
- Investigating the implications of digital platforms’ business practices on variety and quality provision to buyers, on small rivals and on potential platform entry
You are qualified for this position, because you
- Completed the 1st year courses (Micro I, Micro II) of a structured PhD program in Economics
- Have a strong background in Microeconomic Theory, in particular in Game Theory, Contract Theory (Information Economics), Industrial Organization models
- Are interested in Industrial Organization, in particular investigating complexities and puzzling questions of digital platforms
- Are fluent in English
